Code 5 // The Hot Swap (installation)

Community engagement project (part of the Code 5 Artist Residency) aimed to raise awareness on Climate Change issues among the residents of the Thornton Estate in Hull. From consultations with local residents it emerged that people needed a book swap scheme, one that didn’t require any supervision but that was completely self organised. The freezer of the local Fruit and Veg shop broke, and it wasn’t going to be repaired or replaced any time soon. So I turned it into a space to store books/CD/DVDs that could be taken out or brought in. No money was needed and no rules were set for the exchanges.
